Yoga is not a cure for every ill, but it improves everything good in us, and it is in fact meant for healthy, happy people who always want to make the best in themselves even better.
Menopause is a stage in a woman's life in which she goes through great physiological, emotional and even mental changes. One is never fully prepared until the moment of transition arrives and we see how it unfolds in ourselves. Many women become depressed, more irritable and impatient, or age prematurely, almost suddenly, without any obvious reason. Clearly, the emotional and mental levels are working against them, but so are hormonal changes and some very real physiological ones.
However, it is possible to ease the effects of menopause, both physically and emotionally, through the practice of Yoga.
Yoga practice, adapted to each practitioner's ability, can improve health, well-being and joy of living. By working body, mind and emotions together in a wisely guided practice, Yoga has effects that reach far beyond each class, with a positive impact on preventing osteoporosis, maintaining or even improving bone and joint health, building physical endurance and strengthening the immune system. Ásana (the physical side) works not only every muscle and tendon but also every endocrine gland, keeping them young and active and keeping the body young and supple for longer.
Considering that average life expectancy after menopause is around 30 to 35 years, it is very important to keep an active life, with health and vitality.
