Yoga and stress management

Josefa Martins2 min read

The complex, hectic lives of most people and the demands of work often lead to levels of stress that make it hard to perform well in the many social roles they are given.

Practising the technical disciplines of Yoga can ease everyday stress with just one weekly class of about two hours: with emphasis on the physical side and neuromuscular control of Yoga (Ásana); on learning to breathe in an adequate, controlled and relaxing way, storing more energy and distributing it in a controlled, directed way throughout the body (Pranayama); and on guided relaxation, working on the physical, emotional and mental levels as well as neurolinguistic reprogramming, consciously bringing health, happiness, well-being and joy of living. The use of colour and sound restores inner and outer calm and harmony, opening space for concentration.

The habit of focusing the mind on a single idea, thought or object – whatever the theme of concentration – makes the mind more effective, able to do more in less time, avoiding mental scattering and the waste of energy without a specific purpose. The result: a better quality of life in every respect.

Practising Yoga brings Light to Consciousness and calm and harmony to body and mind…
